P3 blogpost
When I was brainstorm during the activities for our research project, I thought about different problems that are relevant to our world today. I was kind of inspired by the issues of the current election cycle. Within the last couple years, I've become quite interested in politics and the current presidential election has only added fuel to the fire. I thought about gun control laws in the US, the wars in the Middle East, climate change and many more. But there was one topic that has really stayed with me recently. It's a topic that potentially has the capability to rock the world, and that would have to be the current Refugee crisis in Syria that has been going on for a few years now. Obviously, this topic falls out of the theme of ethic in higher learning, but I believe that it is an important topic that cannot be ignored. My research question would have to be, "Should we take in Syrian refugees?". Like I said before, I thought of the different political issues facing our current presidential candidates and the Syrian refugee crisis is one of the most important that gets mentioned. I would have to say that the theme of my research project would have to be to inform those who don't fully understand the issue or those who are irrationally afraid of the issue. There are many people that I would call stakeholders in this sort of situation. The president has the power to theoretically create change on the issue. The leaders of state governments will probably have some say in the matter. The American people in general may be the most important stockholders here. They are important because it will be important for people to volunteer to help as well as be accepting and as helpful as possible for the refugees if they ever come here in mass. I'm writing this paper for those that are unconvinced and need to be educated on the matter. Those types of stakeholders are who I'm writing for, the ones who need extra convincing. After reading my paper, the readers will understand my side of the problem and will want to help implement my ideas to help the current situation. My concerns for P3 are that I hope I can be thorough enough in my research so that the information comes off as credible and trustworthy. I hope that people will see this as an important topic instead of just some college paper written by some freshman. I also hope that I can write this research paper in a way that incorporates all sides of the story. I don't want to come off as some goodie two shoes who thinks we should help everyone in the world. I hope that I can write this paper in an unbiased and fair way so that it appeals to all sides. In class, I hope we could learn some more techniques to help us get the most thorough research as we can. I think it could be a great help.
