You may be wondering about CFC's (chlorofluorocarbons), which are the most harmful greenhouse gas. The use of CFC's was eliminated in the 90's, but one CFC can take anywhere from 20-100 years to leave the atmosphere, and have been held accountable for over 80% of atmospheric depletion. Today the only CFC's are found in things like inhalers.

Another concern I have is that our newly elected president, Donald Trump, has called global warming a hoax before, but I can assure you it is not. CO2 alone accounts for 20% of greenhouse gasses, so if we can eliminate some of the CO2, by driving more eco-friendly cars, and taking public transportation we could make a huge difference.

If we decide to switch over from coal power to more renewable sources, where will all of these solar panels and wind mills go? Well they may take up a lot of space, but at the same time so do the coal mines. If we just stop mining for coal we can use all of the space being used for those mines and put in thousands of solar panels, and hundreds of windmills. So while space may be of concern, there would be virtually no extra space taken up by the new power sources.

One of my main focuses on this blog is the harmful effects that big factories have on the environment with all the waste they put into the atmosphere. Fossil fuels produced by these factories account for 40% of global warming alone, if we could stop the use of fossil fuels in these factories we could be eliminating tons of waste each year. It would be hard to just shut down all of the factories operating in the U.S., and stop the production of a lot of goods we use and need in our everyday lives, so a good alternative would be to switch from the main fuel source of coal to more renewable sources like solar and wind power.

Global Warming is becoming a growing issue in today's society. Many people seem to underrate the effects of it, and don't really realize the effects that individuals and big factories and companies have on the environment. A lot of times people don't think that they can really make a difference, and don't realize that doing little things like turning off their lights before they leave the house, and turning the heat down in the winter actually do have an effect on the environment. Those people don't realize that by doing little things like turning down the heat 3 degrees in the winter could actually eliminate about 1,500 pounds of waste from the atmosphere each year alone.
