Extra Credit Blog Post #1

My essay for P2 involved research from multiple articles in Ethics of Higher Education and conforming an essay about a proposal to lower tuition costs. Choosing a logical stakeholder was not a very difficult process and finding a way of contact for that specific individual was even easier. My main stakeholder was State University students around the country, but more specifically students within Colorado State University and even more narrowed down I sent the proposal to Colorado State University’s student body president. I chose Ms. Daniela because she would be able to gather the movement for the rest of the student body at CSU.  When I decided to send my essay to an actual person, I decided to include the title of  “Colorado State University student body president” within my actual proposal. My audience is meant for students all over America, but in order to get to that stage I needed to choose a more specific stakeholder in order to get to that specific goal. I didn’t change too much within my essay after deciding to mail it to Daniela, other than addressing her directly but my main focus is to have the proposal work for Universities everywhere eventually. Eventually is a key word in this situation because if the movement was to spread all over the nation I am sure there are things I would need to change in the proposal itself. The process of delivering my work to a specific stakeholder was actually a lot easier than anticipated; it is definitely more of a self-conscious feeling having someone who has potential to put your idea into action read your proposal. I do not know if I will receive any type of feedback or not but it feels good to have my work out in the real-world rather than just inside of the classroom.
My paper covered problems that affect most of the student population in colleges. I used audience appeals of ethos, pathos and logos to grab my overall audience’s attention. I introduced these audience appeals through sources within Ethics of Higher Education as well as my own personal writing voice. I think that Daniela will be able to recognize how I used emotion, logic, and credibility of sources throughout the entire paper. Having an ultimate goal of students unified across that nation would bring Daniela herself amazing credibility on how she made this movement happen. High tuition and student debt is an issue to so many individuals it is not difficult for students to consider solutions. As a student body president for Colorado State University, I am sure she wants to accomplish certain things within her time of being here. This type of proposal would solve and unify so many problems as well as people. It also helps on my benefit that I went to high school with Daniela and we are mutual friends, so chances are more likely that she will actually read my proposal. To conclude, there is a good chance my proposal will not be used to an extreme extent but I am glad to have my foot through the door and have the opportunity to present my ideas to a real-world audience.
