Bumper Sticker/Summary

Driving around Horsetooth Reservoir, I noticed there were an abundance of bumper stickers. Most of which you would expect like "love Colorado" and "life is good" but one in particular I feel is very common; "I 'heart' snow". This sticker can generally be interpreted in two ways about how this person feels about the winter season in Colorado. One is of course the skiing and snowboarding. To me, this seems like the type of person that really likes to get out there and enjoy the thrills and excitement this sport has to offer. It also shows a little pride in the state they live in because some the conditions that Colorado creates are some of the best in the nation. Another interpretation is they just like the snow in general and the mood that it brings along with it. It could be the great holidays that fall in the winter and the snow makes it more interesting or the fact that a large storm means they have to be trapped in their house bundled up with blankets on the couch watching their favorite movies or shows.
In response to the violent acts that took place on the campus of UC Davis on November 18, 2011, Nathan Brown, a faculty member, wrote a letter specifically directed to the chancellor of the UC schools. This letter described how students were peacefully protesting the rising prices of universities and the school ordered a police force for to break up the protest using batons, pepper-spray, and tear-gas. Many students and faculty were injuring and some even hospitalized during this belligerent act which cause the writing of this letter to explain that what they did was wrong and how it was against the student's civil right to protest. Brown describes the schools carelessness in regards to the student's safety and demanded the immediate resignation of the chancellor.
